In preparation for the consultation it is important to note that injection of this serum-textured formula is performed with a microdroplet technique, meaning that there are numerous injections of tiny drops of product using a very small needle (the same gauge that we use for Botox injections). This makes bruising more common than with other injectable procedures, in addition to the fact that thin-skinned areas are most commonly treated and are most likely to show bruising. This risk can be minimized if you avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (such as Aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Motrin, and Excedrin) for two weeks pre-treatment unless medically necessary, as well as any supplements containing fish oil, omega 3 fatty acids, ginkgo, ginseng, or ginger. Please also avoid alcohol in the days leading up to your appointment as this also worsens bruising. If you have a history of herpes simplex cold sores, and if the injectable treatment is used near your mouth, we may prescribe a preventative antiviral to take as an adjunct to treatment. Skinvive treatment is not advisable if you are pregnant or nursing, so please let us know about this when scheduling so that we can discuss the best timing of your treatment.

During the consultation, our team will take high resolution photographs for your record so that we can observe the results of your treatment with accuracy. We will then ask you about your medical history, including current medications and any prior procedures. Dr. Sherber will talk with you about your specific goals and customize a treatment plan for you that might include Botox, other injectables, laser treatments, and skincare products. Areas that we typically treat are in the cheeks and in thin-skinned or crepey areas.
