Rosacea

Rosacea is a genetically-influenced condition characterized by a range of signs and symptoms from facial flushing to acne-like bumps to dilated blood vessels on the face. Dr. Sherber is experienced at distinguishing rosacea from other conditions that mimic it, which helps to determine a diagnosis early on and to prevent long term skin changes.

Rosacea can sometimes be a difficult condition to diagnose as it can mimic other inflammatory skin conditions. Oftentimes, erythematotelangiectatic rosacea can be missed if someone thinks that they merely have sensitive skin that stings and flushes easily. Rosacea can also be mistaken for acne as the condition involves either episodic or constant inflammatory bumps on the face. Determining the correct diagnosis is essential in improvement and management of rosacea as the skin is sensitive and can be aggravated by external irritants such as skincare or makeup products as well as harsh treatments.

RECOMMENDED TREATMENTS

Dr. Sherber approaches each individual case with a customized treatment plan to target and treat the underlying drivers of active rosacea. Establishing individual triggers for rosacea is key to best outcomes. Dr. Sherber generally combines a gentle skincare regimen with topical or oral prescriptions as needed, as well as laser treatments such as Laser Genesis and Nd:YAG to fade redness and visible veins. Laser-assisted delivery of anti-inflammatory active ingredients using the Perméa laser can produce significant improvements in skin’s appearance and reactivity overtime. Botox microinfusion can also reduce flushing and improve skin quality.
