Tear Trough Correction
Men and women are often vexed by a fatigued, sad or disinterested appearance caused by loose upper eyelid skin, under eye bags, dark circles around the eyes, loose wrinkles under eye skin and hollowed eye sockets. Tear Trough correction includes placing implants below the eye to improve the appearance of under eye hollows.
Dr. Rad often combines this procedure with other eye lifting surgeries such as “Fox Eye” reshaping, or canthoplasty, which involves subtle changes in the shape of the eye to lift the outer corners to correct situations where the outer eye may tilt downward. When performed expertly, blepharoplasty surgery (eyelid lift) can refresh the eyes. Dr. Rad’s approach focuses on natural results so that patients appear rested and with hidden scars tucked within natural creases or completely invisible on the inside of the eyelid surface. Combined upper and lower blepharoplasty can often safely be performed simultaneously. These tried-and-true approaches are safe and effective in experienced hands, and Dr. Rad is expert in achieving patients’ goals while minimizing recovery time.
Other options for Tear Trough Correction include injection of fillers to improve under eye hollows, and fat transfer as a more permanent option.
“The beauty in a face should be noticed, not the work that went into it.”

Care post-surgery is important for both your recovery and results whether at your home or at a hotel.

Your vision for your results will emerge through detailed consultation with Dr. Rad, meticulous examination of your anatomy, and careful pre-surgical planning. While Dr. Rad’s surgical approach is unique for each patient, the goal of naturalness remains constant.
The results of a Tear Trough Correction are permanent. However, one must take into account that the aging process will still occur and gravity will continue to affect the lower region of the eyes. Because of this, new signs of aging can still appear where surgery was performed. To see Before & After results, visit our gallery page.
frequently askedQuestions
Why do I look tired?
Under Eye bags make us look tired or older. The problem is twofold: (1) protruding fat pockets cause the lower eyelids to bulge out, and (2) deep tear troughs, the indentation that appears underneath our lower eyelids, makes puffiness appear worse. The combination causes dark circles under the eyes which make us look tired or older.
