Skinvive is the first skin booster to gain FDA approval in the U.S. Skin boosters are hyaluronic acid injectables, however they are not fillers and do not add volume. Rather, Skinvive is a skin quality treatment to restore deep hydration to the skin for increased smoothness and a glossy glow. Skinvive is made by Allergan and is known as Volite overseas, where it has been a mainstay of aesthetic treatment in Europe, Asia, Brazil, and Canada for years.
The benefits of Skinvive treatments are numerous and cater to various skin concerns, making it a popular choice for those seeking a refreshed and youthful appearance. Key benefits include:
Hydration and Moisture Retention- Skinvive enhances the skin’s ability to retain moisture, leading to improved hydration and a more supple, plump appearance.
Reduction of Fine Lines and Wrinkles- The treatment helps to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, providing a more youthful and rejuvenated look.
Improved Skin Texture and Tone- Skinvive promotes an even skin tone and a smoother texture, addressing issues like roughness and uneven pigmentation.
Boosted Collagen Production- By stimulating collagen production, Skinvive contributes to firmer, more elastic skin, which helps to counteract the effects of aging.
Minimized Pore Size- The treatment can help reduce the appearance of large pores, giving the skin a more refined and polished look.
Enhanced Skin Radiance- Skinvive treatments result in a noticeable glow and radiance, making the skin look healthier and more vibrant.
Non-Invasive and Minimal Downtime- Skinvive is a non-invasive procedure with minimal downtime, allowing patients to quickly return to their daily activities.
Injection of this serum-textured product is performed with a microdroplet technique, and so bruising is possible post-treatment. As always, please minimize the risk of bruising by discontinuing NSAIDs (such as aspirin, Advil, Aleve, ibuprofen), fish oil, and supplements containing ginger, ginseng, and gingko for 2 weeks before your appointment. Please also avoid alcohol in the days leading up to your appointment as this also worsens bruising.
This product is FDA approved for treatment of the cheeks, with a suggested starting treatment volume of 2cc for this anatomic area, and is injected widely off-label to address thin-skinned or
crepey areas.
Our team will take high resolution photographs for your record so that we can observe the results of your treatment with accuracy. We will then ask you about your medical history, including current medications and any prior procedures. Dr. Sherber will talk with you about your specific goals and customize a treatment plan for you that might include Botox, other injectables, laser treatments, and skincare products. Dr. Sherber is a board-certified dermatologist and performs all treatments personally.
Before Botox treatment we will clean your skin thoroughly, and Dr. Sherber will ask you to move your facial muscles to make various expressions so that she can map out your muscular anatomy. The injections are not painful but you may feel a small pinch in more sensitive areas. Several points will be injected, with the exact number of injections needed determined by your anatomy and by the extent of the areas being treated. Treatment takes about 5-10 minutes.
Dr. Sherber graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University, where she designed and implemented a novel degree program in health policy focused on assessing and improving quality of care. She next attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where she earned her M.D. degree. Following a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical research at Columbia University, she returned to Johns Hopkins for dermatology residency training and conducted research in scar healing and in disorders of abnormal collagen. She is now a Clinical Assistant Professor at George Washington University in the Department of Dermatology.
